In his prime, Raleigh had snared the vicious fighter Moshe into marriage through a mutual game of push and pull. Ten years later, Raleigh suffers from a chronic knee injury and flagging confidence, while his bond with Moshe has eroded drastically.
During yet another domestic squabble, Raleigh learns that Moshe intends to leave their home to take part in a winter sword fighting tournament. Roused by a mix of broken pride and desperation, Raleigh chooses to attend as well—in what he believes is the last chance to win back Moshe's devotion.

this was a lovely short story of a D/s couple in crisis set in faux medieval times. it was warm and the characters engaging but would do better as a freebie on the author's site. Very short.Product details

This is not my usual read, but I must say I did enjoy it. I have to admit, that I got rather annoyed with Raleigh, as to me he seemed to resent Moshe due to his own failings, and he was also pushing him away. Although they are married, it is like they live in the same place, but are leading two separate lives.
Raleigh and Moshe are invited to go to a Winter Sword Fight Tournament, and at first Raleigh does not reply to the invite. However, as soon as Moshe writes a reply to the invite, stating that they will both be attending but only he, Moshe will be participating, Raleigh then decides that he can reply better, and then sends a reply saying they will both attend and will both take part.
Raleigh watches Moshe practice his sword skills, and then takes a trip down memory lane recalling when they were first married, and the fun they used to have practicing together….. but sadly no longer.
They travelled together to the tournament, but in some ways were far apart…..
Raleigh comes across as very insecure, to me it seems that due to an old injury he feels he is not worthy of Moshes love, and that Moshe is just waiting for the chance to leave – which is so not the case, but Raleigh seems to have in his mind set on this course of action. Raleigh seems jealous of his own cousin who is hosting the tournament, as Moshe gets on well with him. It all comes to a head when Raleigh has to fight Moshe in the tournament, and his knee fails him, and he looks at Moshe concerned face to tell him that he could not save them or their love…… Moshe is understandably angry at this comment and leaves Raleigh in the middle of the arena.
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Raleigh, as Moshe ignores him at the banquet, and chooses not to sit with him…that is until Raleigh decides that his husband should be by his side and not sitting with others ignoring him. What follows is quite entertaining, and feelings of the heart from both sides are spoken.
Does Moshe stay with Raleigh, well I am not saying, but I have to say things are not looking good for Raleigh with his insecurities showing through, he seems determined to try and kill all the love Moshe has for him.
